Collection: Dried Meat

South African dried meat is called biltong, a traditional snack made from seasoned, cured and air-dried meat.  It's similar to American jerky, but usually not as sweet or smoked.

Typical seasonings for biltong include coriander seeds, black pepper, salt, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and chili flakes.

Biltong can be kept in the refrigerator for several months, but it will dry out and become tough over time.  To prevent this, you can store it in an airtight container or vacuum-seal it.

The word biltong comes from the Dutch words bil (buttock) and tong (strip).
